Are there situations in which you treat calcinosis cutis that is not symptomatic for the patient?
Given the lack of efficacy of most treatment options, do you generally try to treat calcinosis cutis that is not bothering the patient even if it is quite extensive?

There is NO treatment for either the prevention of calcinosis or the dissolution of calcinosis. Every 5-10 years over the past 40 years there have been potential treatments but none have been confirmed. I do not use anything specific for the asymptomatic patient. I agree with Dr. @Steen. Calcinosis is best left alone if not bothersome. It can recur post surgical resection and the sites of resection are also vulnerable to infection and poor healing especially in acral areas.
