What is your institutional protocol for an incidental finding of an adnexal cyst on CT simulation for cervical cancer?
Could EBRT lead to rupture of the cyst?
Answer from: Radiation Oncologist at Community Practice
It is not common to have this finding. A combination of PET CT and MRI confirms the benign etiology of these cysts and can be ignored for cervical cancer management.
Agree with Dr. @Sushil Beriwal. Should these cysts be large enough to distort the anatomy and limit the radiation planning, I will consider removing them. However, rarely is this needed as their cystic nature generally lends itself to not cause problems with other organ mobility.
