Of course, I would prefer to avoid all NSAIDs with CKD but many patients benefit from anti-inflammatory effects and options to help are limited. I have had many patients tolerate ongoing use as they felt they had little choice.
The main benefit of COX-2 drugs is on gastric toxicity and not selectively avoiding other problems such as fluid retention, raising BP, and of course, negatively affecting renal function.
Avoid any type of NSAIDS in patients with CLD.
