Prevention:

  1. Cleanse and moisturize the face daily using products that are appropriate for your skin type.
  2. If using a cloth mask, make sure it is washed regularly.
  3. Take off the mask when safe and appropriate.

Barrier creams under glove occlusion do a poor job of preventing irritant hand dermatitis, and I am unaware of data supporting use of moisturizers under mask occlusion to prevent irritant facial dermatitis. I would not recommend moisturizers for this purpose.

Agree with all of the above, I also have patients who can tolerate it use a hypochlorous acid spray on the face 1-2x daily especially if they are not wearing makeup.
