I have had significant anecdotal results on patients using 10% glycolic acid creams. It takes approximately six weeks to be effective but it has been consistently helpful.
Urea works well at smoothing out keratin. I also encourage the use of fragrance-free and dye-free laundry detergents and no fabric softener (especially the dryer sheets) as they exacerbate this problem.
