This is a really good question. We shouldn't be halting productivity for a huddle (which can represent significant total man hours when you are including dozens of people for even 15 minutes) unless we are sure it's producing something of value. The culture and size of a department ultimately determines how a daily huddle is received. Nevertheless, during the COVID pandemic, I cannot think of a better reason to have a daily huddle, and am actually surprised by the uncertainty expressed regarding the value of the daily huddle.
