How do you approach gastric cancer with oligometastatic disease?

Do you offer perioperative chemo with metastectomy with an isolated liver metastasis? The RENAISSANCE/AIO-FLOT5 trial (PMID:30448343) is seeking to answer this very question. Is there any other data to suggest that this approach is effective? Or would you stick with palliative chemotherapy?

This is an area of ongoing evaluation and controversy. As with any such areas, there is a lot of dogma and no good data (other than single-center retrospective series from East Asia and, occasionally, the West).
